SYNAGOGUE: Coroner rejects TB Joshua’s application to suspend building collapse inquest

By Olawale Kadir on December 10, 2014 @ 3:16 pm

A Lagos State Coroner’s Court on Wednesday dismissed an application filed by the registered trustees of the Synagogue Church of All Nations and its founder, Prophet Temitope Joshua. NAN reports that the applicants had asked the court to stay proceedings on its ongoing inquest into the Sept. 12 building collapse of a guest house within the church premises. 116 persons were killed after the six-storey building collapsed. The applicants had asked the court to stay proceedings on issues relating to calling of witnesses in respect of the building approval or material tests of the collapsed building.

They had also asked the coroner to suspend further action on the invitation issued to Joshua to appear before the inquest to give evidence. According to them, the stay of proceedings is pending the determination of another suit filed by Joshua against the coroner before Justice Lateefat Okunnu of an Ikeja High Court.

However, in his ruling, the coroner, Mr Oyetade Komolafe, dismissed the application for lacking merit and for being an abuse of court processes. According to NAN, Komolafe said the court had no power to entertain the application because it was not an adversarial court which had plaintiffs and respondents. He said: “The proceedings before the court is a judicial inquiry to ascertain certain facts’’.

“There are no parties in a coroner’s inquest or proceedings. The proceedings are inquisitorial and the court cannot determine or pronounce criminal liabilities on witnesses.” According to him, the Coroner’s Systems Law prohibits the court from entertaining applications outside its own jurisdiction.

“Therefore, this court cannot adjudicate on this motion on notice as in doing so, the court will be acting outside its own jurisdiction,” he said. Komolafe noted that the suit filed before the high court did not translate to an automatic stay of proceedings because the judge did not grant any order to that effect. “From the order made by the high court, there is nowhere it was stated that the proceedings of this inquest should be stayed as provided by Section 40(6) of the High Court Civil Procedure Rules.

“This court cannot adjudicate on this motion on notice as doing so would amount to operate outside the scope of a Coroners Court. “In the circumstances therefore, this application is hereby dismissed,” he added. NAN reports that the matter was adjourned until Dec. 12 for further hearing.

High Court dismisses SCOAN’s appeal

Thank God that sanity and justice prevailed today as SCOAN’s latest attempt to sabotage the inquest into their deadly building collapse failed. SCOAN appealed to the high court to intervene and put an end to the inquest, not surprisingly the judge dismissed the application.

Let’s pray that there will be no more time-wasting, and that the families of the 116 people tragically and unnecessarily killed will get justice soon.

In other random news, a group calling itself “TB Joshua Lover international” has given the federal government of Nigeria 72 hours to supply adequate information and details of SCOAN’s “mysterious aircraft” or it will present the case to the World court at the Hague in Netherlands. The group’s leader said that “Prophet Joshua is an international figure and his present ordeal is of interest to the international community”. The ordeal of the bereaved families who are suffering and grieving is of interest to the international community, the illegal extension and lack of compulsory building insurance for a hostel holding international guests is of interest, the constant attempts to undermine the legal process is of interest, but there is less sympathy for the self inflicted “ordeal” of TB Joshua.

The accounts of all the events recorded in this book are exactly as the author experienced them both physically and spiritually. In other words, it is indeed at true story. The author has decided to change the names of the characters involved as the objective of the book is not to accuse and condemn people, but to expose the evil works of Satan and its demons in our churches especially in this endtime.

The book aims to shed more light on the evil ways through which the devil deceives, seduces, lures, ensnares and entraps unsuspecting Christians using its human agents who pose as men of God. That is why the true identities of the characters involved in this story are irrelevant for they are merely insignificant, tiny, puny puppets of the devil their evil puppet-master. Even if you labeled and ostracized them from Christendom, the devil will still raise up much more of such puppets to take their place in the churches hence we should focus more on how to identify them in our midst as the “wolves” in sheep clothing according to Bible prophecy pertaining to this perilous endtime that we live in today.

What is important is our endtime battle against the Antichrist’s deadly devices, wiles and lies of our common enemy, Satan the evil-puppet master whom the Bible say is definitely not flesh and blood.
(...For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places...Ephesians 6:12)
